Will Forest replace the another forest system?
Yes. Foresta replace the another forest system developed by Bitcomp. Third party has been in charge of its sales and for reasons related to product management, the collaboration ends in the end of June.
As Bitcomp begins to market and sell the product independently, the product name changes to Foresta. With this change, the current production and maintenance of previous system ends by the end of the year 2020.
In the future, how can I do the same work I used to do with previous system?
Bitcomp continues to develop and maintain the system under the new name of Foresta.
Foresta has all the same features as previous system. Also the the principals of use are the same.
You can continue your work with Foresta system starting from the 1st of October 2020 without any notable interruptions.
What’s the difference between Foresta and previous system?
Foresta’s basic features are exactly the same as previous system’s. Only the name of the service, the color scheme and the log in address change.
However, the Foresta users can more easily take advantage of Bitcomp’s other services and expertise.
When will the change happen?
Foresta will be available for use starting October 1st, 2020. The maintenance and use of previous system will end by the end of the year 2020.
To start using Foresta, all you need to do is to renew the contract and, when the time comes, to change the URL address used for logging in. You can find the instructions for the contract renewal here.
We want to make the transition period as pleasant as possible. Therefore, we offer old users the transfer of their old data, new datasets (the up-to-date satellite imagery, change detection dataset and analyzed damage risk maps) and the license for WoodsApp Basic until the end of 2021. To get these perks, you need to renew the contract by 30th of September, 2020.
What will happen to my data?
All your data can be transferred as it is to the new system. You don’t have to do anything, we will move your data automatically with the contract signing. If you sign the new contract by 30th of September 2020, your data will be transferred with no extra charges or fees.
What are the pros and cons of the change for me?
It is important for us that this change will only benefit our users, so that’s the baseline we are starting with.
In the future, Bitcomp can develop the system based on architectures that are newer and function better. We can get direct customer feedback and use it to develop our system quicker and more efficiently.
Unfortunately, there will be a little extra hassle for the user in signing the new contract and terminating the old. However, we work to make the change as easy for use as possible. You can find the instructions for the contract renewal here.
What will happen to the development of the system?
The development of the system will also continue as used to.
As the product management moves entirely to Bitcomp, we have a direct interface to the users and we get feedback and development ideas quickly to our development team.
How can I move from previous system to Foresta?
All you need to do is sign a new contract and terminate your old contract.
Initially, we offer users more datasets to utilize.
There will be up-to-date satellite imagery, change detection dataset and analyzed damage risk maps available for users who have signed the contract by 30th of September, 2020.

How much does the Foresta license cost?
There will be no price difference between Foresta and the previous system. In other words, for old users, the sum total of your bill will not change.
When will I have to decide about transitioning to Foresta?
You can make the decision whenever you want before the end of old system (by the end of year 2020).
We want to make the transition period as pleasant as possible for the users. Therefore, we offer all old users who sign the contract at latest 30.9.2020 the transfer of their own data, new datasets and the license for WoodsApp Basic valid until the end of 2021.
If I leave my decision to a later stage, will I have to pay for two licenses?

Foresta guarantees that the features familiar from previous system will continue to exist. You can continue your work without downtime. With Foresta, you can continue with the same familiar user experience and you won’t have to learn the use of a new system. Transferring your old data to the new system happens effortlessly as the database remains the same.
Not to mention that you will be in front of the line to employ the newest digital services for forest management and datasets derived from satellite data.
What will happen to the user support?
A dedicated customer support will continue to assist Foresta customers. Our support team consists of professionals and will be glad to help you with your questions. You can find the team here.

What about the user days?
The dedicated user days will continue also with Foresta. We’re already planning for the next year’s user days! However, we want the users to have a chance to get their voices heard and to pose questions already this year. Therefore, we will be organizing a Foresta a familiarization day in November.
