FOREST CHANGE DETECTION SERVICE
Cut down the costs by focusing costly field work to the correct areas. Satellite data, processed utilizing artificial intelligence, enables faster-than-before automatized monitoring of the state of the environment. This allows quick estimation of, for example, damages caused by forest fires, storms or insects.
The analysis of remote sensing data can also be utilized for mapping out optimal actions for carbon storage by combining the analyzed data with carbon balance models.
In production since June, the next steps for the forest change detection service are adding features to the current service and the integration to other services, for example as a map layer to WoodsApp. The service also has great potential to be expanded to other countries.

GIS Expo is an annual gettogether of the experts of geospatial data sector that consists of fair exhibition and short presentations. The themes this year are Katse ilmastoon (Focus to the Climate) and Yhteentoimivan paikkatiedon Suomi (Finland of Interoperable Geospatial Data).

ULTRAHACK 2019 SPRINT II - DIGITAL FOREST VITALITY HACK, Espoo, Finland, 22nd - 24th November 2019
Utilizing various data sources, how would you use forests in a new way and in sustainable manner? Together with Finnish Forest Centre, we are looking for innovative solutions outside traditional forestry. Some of the appreciated solution domains brought up on Ultrahack site include digital landscaping tools, gamified berry place radar and a solution that uses laser scanning data to quantify forest structural diversity.
